It’s hard enough picking and applying for colleges without worrying about from where the money will come. We will help you fit paying for college into your family’s current financial plan.

We can help you:

  • Understand how the system works
  • Fill out the forms
  • Increase aid while lowering your family contribution
  • Calculate your eligibility for aid in advance.
  • Appeal to colleges and universities to get the most aid possible.

As a CCPS certified (Certified College Planning Specialist), Dr. Kay can also work with you to provide the right balance of college planning and financial strategies.

Grants/Scholarships

When Kay worked as assistant dean, she sometimes had to try to find students that qualified for different grants.  She had to work just to give the money away!

Grants, Scholarships, and Loans can make almost any college affordable. The trick is in knowing which ones to apply for and how to get them.

This is one of our specialties. After sending off applications and financial profiles, students begin receiving financial aid award letters that show what the school will give should your student attend. Many students make their college decisions based on that award letter, but we treat that letter as merely the starting point. We can help you use these letters from other schools as leverage to help your student attend the school that’s on the top of his or her list, while getting the most financial assistance as possible.

We can help identify ways for you to use your resources and have cash flow during the college years without draining your retirement.

Loans

We can help you find and implement the loan plan best suited to your needs. This plan takes into account all aspects of the financial aid process as well as cash flow planning, loan strategies and tax credits as part of your plan to finance your student’s college education.

We will help you to get the most attractive loans available to you, and explore other loan options such as:

  • a loan on the cash balance of your insurance
  • home equity
  • and others

Savings

  • How can you save money without hurting your student’s potential for financial aid?
  • What type of accounts will let you avoid paying taxes, save you the most, and help your student’s chances for aid?
  • How can I fund retirement and school at the same time?

We’ll help you answer these questions and much more. Dr. Kay will sit down with you, review your situation, and help you come up with the savings plan that’s right for you.

We also specialize in paying for school through less conventional ways.
These include:
